Obituary for Lugene Winters

Lugene Winters was born on May 9, 1921 in Charleston, Mississippi to Steve and Anna Winters. On August 26, 1961, he married Thelma Louis Johnson in Chicago, Illinois. From this union they were blessed with six children.

Lugene Winters lived a full life. He was a devoted loving husband and father. He was admired for his dedication to his wife Thelma during her illness. He supported her faithfully until her untimely death.

After being discharge from the military, he worked hard to provide for his family, occupying two jobs at the same time; one at the Greyhound bus company and one at Lake Side Medical center. He was affectionately known as 'Bill-Bo'. He enjoyed playing checkers, his harmonica and especially enjoyed dancing. He was well known in the neighborhood and would go above and beyond to help others.

On Monday August 31, 2015, Lugene succumbed to death. He leaves to mourn his children, Kenneth (Charlotte), Sharon, Wanda, Bryan, Tracy (Devin) and Reshae (Andre); grandchildren, Anthony, Andrea, Bianca, Tamera and Bre’Yon, great grand children, Aniyah, Alyssa, and Alyse; sisters, Fannie, Lizzie, Betty; special nephew Larry; special niece Betty; and a host of other nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma and his sister Louise.
